Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Player Rashee Rice
The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.
The organization omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Allegations Posted on Instagram
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the second round.
Official Complaints Currently Not on File
No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles
The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.
Statistically, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
