The Streaming Platform to Bring a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent action-packed game that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for embracing chaos and insanity with similar excitement, all while weaving gripping, socially charged stories. It’s no surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two visionaries whose work have embodied all of those elements.
About the Series
Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game series, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' format by having a different location and ensemble in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we do not know what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.
“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, entrusting us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX partners always encourages me with their steady confidence and support.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every title is a interpretation of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a story,” noted Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can shift from year to year, while always delving into the core of humanity through this intricate and chaotic perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to partner with Rob and present our mutual irreverent, visionary approach to the screen.”
A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
